Al-Isra (Arabic: الإسراء‎, lit. The Night Journey) or Banī Israil (بني إسرائيل‎, The Children of Israel) is the 17th chapter (sūrah) of the Quran, with 111 verses (āyāt). It is about Isra and the Children of Israel. This sura is part of a series Al-Musabbihat surahs because it begins with the glorification of Allah.Regarding the timing and contextual background of the supposed revelation (asbāb al-nuzūl), it is an earlier "Meccan / Makki surah", which means it is believed to have been revealed in Mecca (Makkah), instead of later in Medina.Content:This surah takes its name from the first verse, which tells the event of the Isra, the transportation of Muhammad (PBUH) during the night from the Great Mosque of Mecca to what is referred to as "the farthest Mosque". The exact location is not specified, although in Islamic tradition this is commonly taken to be the Noble Sanctuary (Temple Mount) in Jerusalem. Some scholars disagree about this (see Isra and Miraj). While the city of Jerusalem (or al Quds) is not mentioned by name anywhere in the Quran, it is identified in various Hadith (Hadees / Hadis). The first verse refers to Mohammed being taken from the Sacred Mosque to the Farthest Mosque:Glory to (Allah) Who did take His servant for a Journey by night from the Sacred Mosque to the farthest Mosque, whose precincts We did bless,- so that We might show him some of Our Signs: for He is the One Who heareth and seeth (all things).Within Islam, it is generally agreed upon that the Farthest Mosque refers to Masjid al-Aqsa in Jerusalem, despite it being built many years after Mohammeds death, and the Sacred Mosque refers to Masjid al-Haram. The surah also refers to the other prophets, for example, Musa (Moses). It is narrated from Imam Jafar as Sadiq (a.s.) that whoever recites Surah Bani Israil every Thursday night, will not die before meeting Imam Mahdi (a.t.f.) and will be counted among his companions. In the commentary of Safi it is written that the Holy Prophet (Sal Allaho Alehi Wasallam) told Imam Ali (a.s.) that the last two verses of this Surah are a protection and safety from theft. This Surah is also called Surah al-Isra’.Surat al isra adalah surat ke-17 dalam Al quran. Surah al isra’ ini terdiri atas 111 ayat dan tergolong surat Makkiyyah karena diturunkan di Mekkah.
